One of the major responsibilities of a teacher is to make sure that he/she is well prepared of the lesson that he’s/ she’s going to teach for the day. It is mandatory that they have prepared a lesson plan. A lesson plan is a teacher's complete description of the lesson. It serves as instructor’s road map of what students need to learn and how it will be done effectively during class time. Details may vary depending on the preference of the teacher, subject being covered, and the needs of the students. It is theessential component of the teaching-learning process because proper classroom planning will keep teachers of becoming organized and it allows student to reach objectives more easily.
In ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM, mobile teachers and district coordinator prepare a lesson plans too. In the everyday familiarity with different learner, we met problems like tardiness, and showing of lack of interest on part of our learners. With this set-up in the classroom, we find ways to change the atmosphere inside the room. Suggestion came out about lesson exemplar. Mrs. Gemma Rose D. Loyola, (Education Program Specialist) explains some details of the topic. Mrs. Dyren Y. Cruz was assigned to discuss it in a form of training workshop. Consultation meeting with Education Program Supervisor in English was done. Inviting Dr. Ellen C. Macaraeg (LRMDS) was also carried out. Range of ideas comes to mind. Training plan, matrix and other needed materials are prepared. Checking and revision of some details was completed. Lesson exemplar training workshop was set on a date to be conducted.
January 20, 2017, eight-thirty in the morning, the training workshop began with an opening prayer led by Mrs. Marygold C. Bello and followed by a singing of Lupang Hinirang conducted by Mrs. Susan A. Baluyot. Mr. Michael C. Reyes made a roll call. It followed by an inspirational message given by the Education Program Supervisor I- Mr. Ernesto T. Robles Jr.
The speaker started her discussion with 4pics 1 word challenge where in it serves as motivation for the participants to think for an answer. Then she discussed what lesson exemplar is. The importance of using exemplar in every day’s lesson is also brought out. Parts of exemplar were enumerated. Using lesson exemplar can provide teachers and even administrator assessing science and communication skill, because it focused on improving student’s performance and classroom instruction.
When the speaker started discussing the parts of exemplar, she requested the participants to answer the given questions and even to participate in an activity she prepared. How pleasant to see, even Dr. Macaraeg and Ma’am Loyola participated in solving the jigsaw puzzle.
Dr. Macaraeg bestowed some significant matters to Ma’am Loyola things we need to accomplish if we wish to submit samples of lesson exemplar to LRMDS team for evaluation and approval.
During workshop time, participants were given time to prepare their own exemplars based on the budget of works we have. Everyone looks serious and busy during the workshop. After a couple of hours, each mobile teachers and district coordinator presented the exemplar they worked on.
Mrs. Margold C. Bello, presented her output first, then followed by the rest of the participants. Each exemplar was analyzed by Mrs. Loyola. She gave suggestions for some improvement and everybody agreed on it.
After a long, fruitful day, certificates were awarded to each and everyone who participated in the training. It is a very meaningful day, another objective was accomplished.
As a teacher, dedication and commitment on task is the key to attain the goal of making our learners learn.
